Churches all across the country of the United States (and undoubtedly, the
world) provide a safe haven for pedophiles, rapists, and molesters. Does that sound harsh? Unfortunately, it's true. Quite true. Every week we hear about a new pastor or priest who has been arrested for some kind of sexual misconduct (usually towards minors) and most often they are fairly old (50s and 60s). One can only assume that child molestation wasn't something they just decided to dabble in for the past year or two. Obviously they had been doing it for quite some time. These men are at full advantage when they are in the establishment of the church. People are too ashamed or scared to come forward and admit abuses by priests, if a child or adult does come forward usually they are hushed up or settled with large sums of money (that come from those collection baskets you see going through the pews on Sunday), a priest or pastor can be moved from church to church if need be so as the allegations come forward, AND/OR if they are caught and even convicted they can rest assured that they will most likely end up leaving jail a lot sooner than the average child rapist.
